Gitzo GT1542T Series 1 6X Carbon Fiber Traveler 4 Section G-Lock Tripod for Cameras

Product Review

I live in Japan where these branded tripods expense around 150% much more than within the US. Using the robust Yen the Gitzo is really a bargain when bought within the US, even with shipping charges added. The Gitzo arrived two days after I ordered it; incredible. To compare I also purchased a Manfrotto along with a Benro Travelangel (the Benro from eBay). When it comes to stability, compact size, low weight, and build quality, the Gitzo may be the clear winner. I'm partly disabled and only use lightweight gear, so no large lenses or monster camera bodies; with heavier equipment possibly the Gitzo would flex but for my Sony A55 it really is rock solid. I will now sell the Manfrotto and Benro on Yahoo! Auctions Japan for maybe 15% much more than I paid for them on Amazon... (More...)

Sunpak Pro 423PX Tripod, 3 Section With Compact Pistol Grip Ball Head and Case

Product Review

So, I bought this tripod for a lighter hiking/commuting tripod solution as the couple of tripods I have which are skilled grade are each with SLIK pro series legs, moderately heavy, both with heavy heads. I love the legs that include this tripod, and do not get me wrong, but in case you are preparing on shooting using the tripod head provided, be warned that it's going to not assistance considerably weight, which means: confident it will not break and drop your camera or anything, however it will not stay put exactly where you set it, and also impossible to shoot with the camera tilted at 90 degrees, regardless of what lens is on my 1D it wont stay put sideways at all. By far and big, this really is the best tripod system on the maeket! I liked it so a lot I bought the bigger version also. Prepare to be amazed. These tripod systems are developed so well, being versatile in a lot of different configurations. AND, no plastic! (except the nob handles) everything else can be a very very good high quality metal. These are the top tripods for a sharp shooter/observers gear! Bar none! Extremely COMPACT, and versatile. ...[...] (Review More...)

Zeikos ZE-TR101A 72-Inch Photo / Video Tripod includes Deluxe Carrying Case for Use with Camcorders and Digital Cameras

Product Review

Initial off, I would have given the tripod a two 1/2 star rating if probable, but opted for 2 over 3 to balance against what I deem to be excessively positive critiques. When I began shopping for a tripod, my principal concern was to locate some thing reasonably priced that had sufficient height that I'd hardly ever need to raise the center column (this seriously compromises stability) and would enable me to take vertical photographs which my Velbon 607 Videmate doesn't (if you are shopping for a tripod for video, the 607 is an wonderful tripod for the income). By the description and evaluations, this tripod appeared to fit the bill. When it arrived I was initially impressed by the apparent top quality of the tripod. Whilst the legs are not heavy duty or far more pricey material, exactly the same funds at Ideal Purchase won't get you something as sturdy or tall, along with the padding, carrying handle and functional dual bubble levels seemed like icing on the cake. The primary problem, even so, lies inside the quick release plate. For those that do not know, this really is the component you attach towards the bottom of one's camera that enables it to latch onto the tripod. The problem is the fact that it simply isn't extremely secure on the camera itself. I purchased this tripod primarily so I can shoot vertical (portrait) photos, but if I put my old, 80-200 telephoto lens on this thing and turn it for a vertical shot, it simply spins and points downward. The camera and lens together weigh in between 2-2.5 pounds. (More...)
